Coping with grief is difficult. It can feel like a sword into our heart. The pain is, at times, overwhelming. Yet grief can also open us up to a whole new world. It can tear us open. We can enter a process of transformation, this process leads to healing, we become vulnerable, accepting, present in the here and now, serene.

Eva in METHOD Short film, follows a different path when she confronts her grief, she employs it to create her character, she is not seeking healing, she is not ready to accept her loss thus denial is her only options and she fully embraces it.

Eva is suffering from the pain of loss, she dives deeper and deeper into her sadness and she finds refuge by creating a parallel world derived from this sadness.

As an actress working with METHOD she uses her suffering to build her character. This means that her pain will intensify in the same measure that her character grows. She loses herself in a world of darkness that aids her in reaching the truth of her character yet this truth is extremely magnified and disproportionate for her role. She willingly ‘disappears’ blended in her sadness, finding justification in the fact that she is working towards her role.

The pain of deep sadness is gut wrenching a soul sucking disease. The willingness to revive love is vital. Allowing yourself to receive is an emotional and spiritual challenge that she will not be able to cope with. When one can open up and receive love, then one can begin to shift their awareness. The love Eva is submerging in based on memories, intense love that is in the past yet METHOD allows those memories to be here and now.

Life can be lived again and joy is possible. Our hopelessness turns to hope then quickly to faith. And faith is seeing light in your heart even if your eyes still see darkness.

While working on character building Eva finds comfort in facing her pain and deeply embracing it. But she will not open up to the love being offered outside her own world of darkness. The METHOD exercise is the closest she can be to her loved one, for this reason she chooses to remain with him in the only way she feels she can, a fantasy. Painful as it is, it is better than accepting the loss of love.

The only person who is aware of her disappearing is Daniel, because Daniel wants her, he needs her, he loves her. He believes Eva is the only hope for his survival, without her he will die emotionally, spiritually and possibly, physically. For this reason he can clearly see how she actually disappears, and he can also feel it intensely.
